How Do You Honor a Great-Grandmother? This Talented Teen Took to the Stage!C. Kramer
Katie Rhoten is a talented 15-year-old who recently performed a lyrical dance solo at the 2014 Miss Midwest Starz dance competition. Katie performed the dance in honor of her great-grandmother, who struggled with Alzheimer’s. The song she chose, “Unraveling” by Liz Longley, is about dealing with a loved one’s lack of memory. Some of the lyrics are:
And I’m the only daughter of her oldest son
I knew her well before her spirit was gone
And her life is a thread woven into every part of me
She is unraveling, she is unraveling
