Study: This Vitamin May Slow Alzheimer’s

People in the early stages of Alzheimer’s may be able to slow the effects of the disease with a hefty dose of Vitamin E. A new study has shown that patients taking Vitamin E supplements required less help from caregivers in performing daily activities than their undosed counterparts. Some patients were able to defer the degenerative effects for up to six months, which is huge.

Alzheimer’s continues to grow costlier, and the prevalence of this tragic disease only continues to grow. Many American elders depend on Medicare for coverage of treatment they need during their golden years, but Medicare does not cover long-term care for Alzheimer’s leaving family and loved ones to shoulder a care burden currently estimated to be worth over $217 billion.
