A loved one wandering away is one of the worst fears that a caregiver has. Alzheimer’s disease makes it difficult to remember where you are going, or where you came from, and wandering can lead to many unfavorable situations. One shoe company named Aetrex is looking to help prevent unnoticed wandering in Alzheimer’s patient with a new shoe that has GPS monitoring software. It is an interesting idea, but is it one that is productive? The shoe needs to be charged, and the Alzheimer’s patient must be wearing them in order for the tracking to be effective. Even so, when properly used and worn, technology like this could potentially save lives.
