Take An Inside Look At This North Carolina Universities New Program For Caregivers And Family Members.

A sad fact about the increasing number of people diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s is quickly outstripping the available caregivers, and the available training needed to care for patients at home. North Carolina’s A&T university has set out to address the problem with their Center for Outreach in Alzheimer’s Aging and Community Health, or COAACH. Using their “Learning Lab,” COAACH is able to provide training and tips to caregivers, both old and new. By teaching these skills, A&T hopes to lessen the confusion and difficulty by those helping to care for their loved ones in the most effective way possible, and helping to give patients more independence. While the program won’t be up and running until January, you can see the progress and learn about what COAACH is trying to accomplish in the video.
