The day before Mother’s Day, Melvin Armine went missing. Having been diagnosed with Alzehimer’s three years prior, Melvin typically needed help simply walking around the block. So his wife, Doris, immediately became worried and called the police.
Officers found Melvin two miles away, but he wasn’t just wandering aimlessly; it was clear to them that he was a “man on a mission.” His goal? To buy flowers for his wife — something he had done every Mother’s Day since the birth of their first child. “It’s special because even though the mind doesn’t remember everything, the heart remembers,” Doris said, with a smile on her face.
