We look forward to vacation as a time to relax and let go, but if we’re not prepared, it can quickly turn into a major stress-fest.
But it doesn’t have to! Become a savvy traveler and save money, time and loads of unnecessary stress with these 14 tips.
Buy a set of universal power adapters.
You never know what kinds of plugs you’ll run into in other countries. Adapters might seem like a splurge, but your electronics won’t do you much good if you can’t charge them!
Roll, don’t fold.
Save space and avoid wrinkles by rolling rather than folding your clothes. You’ll be able to squeeze them into unexpected pockets of space, including water bottle pouches.
Bring a journal.
Travel journals have both practical and sentimental value. It’s important to keep the address and contact information for your lodging with you at all times, especially if verbal communication is difficult. Plus, you’ll never regret keeping a log of the things you do, the people you meet and the places you discover. This handmade, sustainably-sourced journal will be with you for years.
Bring a scarf, no matter where you’re going.
A lightweight scarf can become a blanket on chilly flights, a seat or bed cover if you’re worried about hygiene, and a respectful way to cover up if you’re traveling to a conservative area.
Dress nicely on planes.
If you’re traveling abroad, it’s a good idea to look put-together when you arrive at your destination. You never know what the customs will be like, and you don’t want to feel uncomfortable or inappropriately dressed. It’s also a great contingency strategy in case your luggage gets lost.
