Mom With Alzheimer’s Inspires Daughter’s Unusual Choice of Reception Venue


As bride-to-be Julia Napolitano and her fiancé Justin Phillips made plans for their upcoming wedding, Napolitano wanted to make sure that her mother, an Alzheimer’s patient in a nursing home, was part of the celebration. Although her mom had lost the ability to recognize her, Napolitano still wanted her mother to be there for her big day. In an unusual move, she made the decision to hold her wedding reception at the care facility where her mother resides. The nursing home residents were invited to share in the event.
