In 1946, the Medical Research Council of the United Kingdom began following over 5,000 babies born in the same week to study the long-term effects of prenatal health care. The members of the study have been monitored throughout their lives and almost 3,000 remain under observation, subjecting themselves to comprehensive medical exams and questionnaires.
As the members approach their seventies, scientists are shifting their focus to dementia, using brain scans and neurological tests to look for early signs of the disease in 500 study members, according to the Medical Research Council.
Thousands of people have donated their lives to this study. Would you? Learn more about what it takes in the below video.Whizzco
