Advances in medical resources and technology have skyrocketed the average person’s life expectancy. Most would see this as a good thing, but biochemist and scholar Gregory Petsko sees something else entirely: an imminent era of widespread neurologic disorders caused by an aging population. Petsko and his fellow researchers hope to cure Alzheimer’s and prevent the epidemic, but the lack of sufficient government funding has them relying heavily on private philanthropies.
