Get an Exciting Update on Alzheimer’s Research!Matthew M. Sullivan
Unfortunately, there is still no cure for Alzheimer’s disease. However, there are plenty of people working toward one!
Alzheimer’s is caused by abnormal clusters in the brain called plaques which cluster between nerve cells, making it difficult for the brain to make connections. In addition, brain cells which are affected by the plaques tend to die off due to another, twisted kind of protein, called tangles.
The key to curing Alzheimer’s is pinpointing the proteins that cause plaques and tangles and destroying them before they cause damage to brain cells.
Researchers are close to developing a drug that can destroy the negative proteins, while preserving the positive ones that allow the brain to operate at full capacity.
